Rincón Beer Company is an amazing brewery nestled in the cute beach town of Rincón. In addition to a great selection of beer, they have really delicious food. I fell in love with their Fish Tacos. The fish was so fresh and fried to perfection. Highly, highly recommend for beer, food, or both!

Metropol is an amazing spot for Puerto Rican food! I absolutely loved the Lechon Asado. It tasted just like the Filipino Lechon I’m used to. The skin was the obvious highlight—perfectly crispy and fatty. The meat was so tender, too. If I were to change 2 things, I’d want it less oily and with a sauce on the side to balance the richness of the meat. Otherwise, I appreciated the HUGE portions and highly recommend!

Chocobar Cortes is chocolate heaven. I loved the Chocolate French Toast. The chocolate was minimal and didn’t overpower the dish, but definitely elevated it. Every French Toast needs chocolate! Ryan got the Chocolate Grilled Cheese. Chocolate and cheese is such an odd pairing yet works so well. It was like eating a Monte Cristo or a sweet grilled cheese! The Churros were standard but it was all about that rich and decadent chocolate dipping sauce. The Choco Frío (Frozen “Hot” Chocolate) was perfect: not too sweet, not too rich. Highly, highly recommend!

Our collective favorite food is ramen, so we had to try Peko Peko in San Juan. I don’t usually get Shoyu Ramen but really enjoyed it. My 3 highlights were the egg, noodles, and broth. The ramen egg was runny and cooked to perfection. I loved the thinness of the noodles and the broth had such a nice light, umami flavor that I don’t get with my typical tonkotsu broth. The meat was great but so thinly sliced, leaving me wanting more. Overall, delicious bowl of ramen!

If you’re in Old San Juan, you must stop by Señor Paleta. Their mango paleta was perfectly sweet and so refreshing! Highly recommend!

I was so excited to try Acapulco Taqueria Mexicana, but very let down when they ran out of Al Pastor (their most popular meat). I settled with the Ribeye Tacos. The steak was grilled so well but lacked the flavor Al Pastor would have. Nonetheless, these were still very delicious and satisfying tacos. I highly recommend, especially when they have Al Pastor.

If you’re in Aguadilla looking for an amazing brunch spot with beautiful dishes, you must go to Mona! We got the Oreo Pancakes and Benedict Experience, and it truly was an experience. The pulled pork was so flavorful and the obvious highlight of the dish. Highly recommend!

We were supposed to eat at Cinco Restaurant in Aguadilla, but the parking lot was full and just ended up next door at The Reef. I’m glad we ate here because the Fish & Chips were delicious. The fish was super fresh and crispy. I’m not the biggest shoestring fry fan, but these worked because I enjoyed the truffle flavor. A great spontaneous find!

On our road trip from the west coast of Puerto Rico to San Juan, we stopped by the beautiful town of Poncé. We had a great lunch at Campioni Pizza, Birra & Tapas. Ryan got the Four Cheese and I got the Gaucho, which was apparently an award-winning pizza! The highlight of the Gaucho was obviously the churrasco (skirt steak). I mean, come on, steak on pizza? How have I never had this genius idea before? It was an excellent pizza overall. If I had to change one thing, I’d want a thicker crust. Highly recommend!

Dulcinea Ice Cream & Churros is a great dessert spot in the T-Mobile District! We enjoyed our chocolatey treat. The frozen yogurt and churro were not the best quality, but all of the components together made it a delicious dessert. My favorite part was the Nutella drizzle.

Thai is one of our favorite collective cuisines, so we had to try Mai Pen Rai. I was a little underwhelmed by their Drunken Noodles. We decided to share and it wasn’t enough for 2 people. It also tasted like a Spicy Pad See Ew because the fish sauce was overpowering. But the spice was on point and the dish was still delicious. I’d recommend trying other dishes and keep in mind that portions are on the smaller end.

I ordered Bistec Encebollado because I love the Filipino version of this dish. The marinade was delicious; I just wished the beef was more tender. Great start and introduction to Puerto Rican food!
